| MAY 12, 2008 |
The Heckenast Racing team invaded the Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois and the Kamp Motor Speedway in Boswell, Indiana on Friday and Saturday, May 9-10. At Farmer City on Friday night, Frank Heckenast, Jr. timed in tenth fastest in qualifying and later ran second in his heat race. After rolling off from the outside of the third row for the $1,000 to win A-Main, Frankie was able to move up one position to finish fifth behind winner Steve Sheppard, Jr., Wes Steidinger, Dennis Erb, and Ryan Unzicker. The dirt-slinging action quickly turned to the Hoosier State on Saturday for a $1,200 to win show at Kamp. Frankie laid down the fastest lap in qualifying and later won his heat race from the fourth starting spot. After leading the field to green in the A-Main, the Orland Park, Illinois driver made contact with the wall, which led to a disappointing fourteenth place performance. Following a couple of rain-outs at the Tri-City (IL) Speedway and the Freeport (IL) Raceway Park, the #99jr team was back at it again on Sunday, April 20 at the Quad City Raceway in East Moline, Illinois. Frankie won his heat race and then the dash to earn the pole position for the $5,000 to win WDRL/UMP show. He then led the stout field early on in the A-Main and was running a solid third when he wrecked hard with a lapped car. The incident relegated Frank to an eleventh place effort in the final rundown.
